Incredibly a man claimed in court that he got police to help him break into a flat from which he stole cash and a passport.

Cardiff Crown Court were told that this was the second break-in the defendant had carried out within a 24-hour period although police had not assisted with the first one!

After the man had been sentenced South Wales Police  issued a statement denying that they had helped him to enter the flat.

Well they would, wouldn’t they?
