It started out as a project to renovate cricket nets.
However, something, on the face of it, simple has now escalated into a dispute between Shenfield CC and Brentwood Council about whether the club should sign a lease on its land and the status of the car park.
The club state that the land, once owned by the Courage family, was gifted to the Council with the express purpose of playing cricket, but there are a myriad of legal arguments.
The two parties are at an impasse. Meanwhile, the nets remain in their current state with no work able to be completed with the dispute ongoing.
I spoke with Chairman of the Colts section at Shenfield CC Stuart Barnes, as well as Colts Secretary Martin Ekers and Coaching Coordinator for the club David Castell.
