Now Frances has just completed a book on what life was like on the home front during the First World War. This book is part of a whole series of books looking at how life was affected in different towns and Frances has written about Southend. On a lighter vain, in the second hour of today’s programme we heard all about the girl who was pressed into marrying a dog – and being a stray at that, they never really had too long to get acquainted before the nuptials. It seems however that the whole episode was designed to get rid of some evil spirits and after a few months of caring for the dog, she will be free to marry a man – without first having to get divorced from the dog!
