Katy and John, who are both invovled withWatato, joined my in the studio tonight. They talked about the work of the charity in Uganda and how in 20 years it has grown. Begun as a response to the overwhelming number of orphaned and vulnerable children and women in Uganda, it now builds communities and provides physical care, medial intervention, education and spiritual discipleship. It was fascinating to hear how Katy went as a volunteer when she was just 14 years old and the impact this has had on her life. John talked about the visits from the children’s choir and also how child sponsorship can support the development of the work. Katy also reminded us that it is a charity that gives direct links between those sponsoring and the children in Uganda. More info can be found on WWW.WATATO.COM
We also had some odd news stories, including a cat that returned to the vets it ran from eight years before. We also heard about the rescue of a hamster caught in a drain pipe, set to rhyme, and the excuses given to Hampshire Police by stopped motorists who were not wearing a seat belt -“I didn’t want to ruin my tan” – “I passed my test in 1960 and have never worn one…why should I start now?”
