We had a 1960s feel to the show tonight. I was joined on the phone by Sylvia Dalziel from the 1960s Salvation Army pop group the Joystrings, who had two top 40 hits in the 1960s. Sylvia has just published a book which tells about their extra-ordinary career that included just being picked from theological training to be in a pop group and performing at the Bunny Club in Soho for three nights. The book is called The Joystrings – The story of the Salvation Army pop group. She told us how their music had influenced other Christians to consider singing in a contemporary style and that this influence lives on. She also said that the book contained testaments about how their music changed the lives of people for the better.
Tonights heavily 60s influenced playlist was much appreciated by listeners who e-mailed the show.
