It was a treat for us all to welcome back Gary to Phoenix98FM tonight. We had the pleasure of his compnay as he is helping the churches in Ingatestone tomorrow run a free BBQ. He told us that some 170+ towns in the UK have run such events since 1999. He also told us about his personal experience of being inv0vled in an event in Mexico City where the people bringing the food to the venue went to the wrong place, so they ended us buying the whole stock from a local hot dog salesman. He also told us about his own personal faith journey and movingly talked about the death of his first wife from cancer, leaving him with two young children, and about meeting and marrying his second wife and how he could see God guiding him through the whole situation. He also brought in three tracks for us and talked about the reasons he had chosen them. In our second hour odd news stories we heard about the worlds first cupcake vending machine in LA and that the company have plans for sites in London. Those in the chatroom and via e-mail were not impressed. We also heard about London schoolboy, Curtis Elton, nine years of age, who is the world’s youngest degree level pianist and who has an album released in November. Finally there were guards on a Spanish underground train that found a wallet containing a cheque for $2 million dollars. The wallet also contained credit cards and a driving licence. However, it had not been claimed and so far the police were having trouble tracking down the owner. They said they would not return it unless the owner could verify the origin of the money. This led to the following response in the chatroom. “He was probably just taking the suit to the cleaners and the wallet dropped out, so no money laundering.”.
