The studio air conditioning was much appreciated tonight. So we tried a little musical air conditioning for a hot evening. The music mix tonight was very relaxing, including Emily Goulding, Bee Gees, Jamie Cullum, Hollies, Ralph McTell, Sandy Abrahams, Dolly Parton, Elton John, Chris Rea, Van Morrison and others. There were requests for Rene, Emiliy, Phyl & Derek, Susan & Lee, Chris, Marjorie, Lee and Michael. The chat room was busy with reaction to the music and the stories. We heard about a couple getting married tomorrow who had been separated 70 years ago when her father refused to pass on a letter from the young soldier. Life had taken her to New Zealand, they had both been married, but having met up last year now they are getting married. We also had a story of Paypal paying more money than there is in the world into someone’s account for a few seconds. Lee suggested they should have to pay the interest. Even a few seconds of 9 quadrillion dollars is a lot of interest.
I was delighted to be joined on the phone by Janet Collins from the Ingatestone and Fryerning Horticultural Society. She talked about Saturday’s Summer Show in Ingatestone, starting at 12.30. It is the 50th year of the show being orgnaised by this group, but the show goes back to the 1880s. It sounds like it will be a great day. And the weather is going to be kind.
I am not on air next week. Join me on August 2nd when my guest is the highly talented local keyboard player Oliver Lincoln. Vic will be delighted with your company next week.
