It was a real pleasure to sit in for Bob this afternoon, and he’d chosen a great top 10 year for me to start the show. Starting with the anti-climax of the millennium bug, 2000 was also the year of mad cow disease, fuel protests and the Concorde disaster; and the best selling songs of the year were:
1. Bob the Builder – Can we fix it
2. All Saints – Pure shores
3. Sonique – It feels so good
4. Baha Men – Who let the dogs out
5. Robbie Williams – Rock DJ
6. Eminem – Stan
7. Fragma – Toca’s miracle
8. Spiller – Groovejet (if this ain’t love)
9. Craig David – Fill me in
10. S Club 7 – Never had a dream come true
3@3 was a bit of self indulgence, as I chose three songs from one of my favourite artists – R&B singer/songwriter and actor Usher – Yeah! and Burn, both UK number one singles from his album Confessions; and OMG, from Raymond vs Raymond.
I then finished off with a great assortment from the past fifty years – including songs from Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Andy Williams, the Kinks and the mighty Frank Sinatra.
Bob’s back next week – but not the builder!
