My Penultimate Sunday Replay and Extreme Shampooing!

In my penultimate Sunday Replay we had a story about the new craze of extreme shampooing!

An internet blogger called Jim Chapman started the craze, which involves people washing their hair in extreme places.

The first challenge was at a fire training college in Oxfordshire. Two firemen blasted the blogger with a fire hose which reaches between 8 and 20 bars of pressure – the equivalent of having 10 showers at once.

He then washed his hair in the River Thames by pushing his head over the side of a speedboat which was travelling at nearly 40mph, before putting his head under the Hardraw Force in Yorkshire, the UK’s highest unbroken waterfall.

The 25-year-old then climbed to the top of the second-largest working Transporter Bridge in the world before stepping down from a 160-foot bungee jump into the water, with a member of the bungee team taking the place instead.

The final challenge was at the top of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the country, where he washed his hair in the 2-metre-deep snow.

Chapman said: “I’ve done some crazy things in my life but Extreme Shampooing has to be one of the most exhilarating and outrageous ways to road test a new product.

“The most extreme challenge was the dip underneath Hardraw Waterfall – the sheer force of the fall was incredible, however, climbing to the peak of Ben Nevis was one shampooing experience I’ll certainly never forget!”

Extreme Shampooing is becoming an online trend, with people submitting their own videos and photographs on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
