The Conversatives lost three councillors in the 2012 election; Brentwood South returned to Labour and Brentwood West went back to the Lib Dems. But the big shock of the night was the loss of Shenfield to the Lib Dems. Margaret Brehaut won the seat for the Tories in 2008 with 77.7% of the vote, but her share was halved this time round, with the Lib Dems taking the seat with a swing of 38.5%.
