Friday Night Extra 6.1.17 New Year’s Honours

Tonight we featured some of those who were recognised in the New Year’s Honours. We also had a number of request for tracks for a relaxing Friday evening. We heard about Sir Ray Davies, Sir Ken Dodd, Naomi Harris OBE, Victoria Breckham OBE. Dame Patricia Routledge, Sir Bryn Terfel, Baroness Shirley Williams, Angel Rippon CBE and James Jones KBE. We also remembered M*A*S*H actor William Christopher, who played priest Father Mulcahy in 111 episodes of the long running show. There was also the heart-warming story about Edinburgh homeless man Jimm Fraser. He was begging on the streets when Swedish tourists Annis Lindkvist and her sister Emma asked for directions. They struck up a friendship and they paid for him to fly to Sweden to spend a week with their family over the festive period. We also remembered the life of Bletchly Park cryptographer Rolf Noskwith.
