Film Director Max Newsom on his beautiful Icelandic fairytale; Iceland Is Best

Ahead of Monday’s Drive I caught up with director, producer and writer Max Newsom for a chat about his latest movie Iceland Is Best. The film tells the story of Sigga, a 17 year-old girl trying to leave home in Iceland, and make her way to California. We talked about how the film was inspired by a chance meeting with an Icelandic woman who had an incredible story to tell, how Max and the production team made the film and what it was like filming on location in such a stunning but dangerous landscape plus lots more.

Click here to listen from 4pm on Monday 4th July on Phoenix FM or click play to hear the full, uninterrupted interview below.

Iceland is Best is out now and available to purchase or rent on DVD via iTunes and Prime Video. For a list of other streaming platforms, click here.

To hear our previous chat with Max including more on the incredible journey that making the movie took Max, the cast and the crew on plus some behind the scenes tales of battling gale-force winds and unpredictable snowstorms in Iceland click here.
