Finding out how we can make life a little better for rough sleepers

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Essex charity Cool To Be Kind came down to our studios last week for the launch of this year’s Rucksack Project.

The charity’s co-founder Brian McGovern came in to chat to Stewart Pink live on our daily One 2 Three lunchtime show.

Cool To Be Kind are a Chelmsford based community project that supports rough sleepers in and around Essex. The Rucksack Project is an initiative to collect and distribute essential items to rough sleepers in order to make the winter months a little more comfortable for homeless people.

Stewart talked about the impact the charity makes on our local streets and also how people can help – while donations can be made all year round, any coming in the winter months are particularly essential given the cold weather conditions.

Brian’s interview can be heard again on the One 2 Three page at www.phoenixfm.com. Rucksacks can be dropped off at the United Brethren Public House in New Writtle Street, Chelmsford or alternative arrangements can be made by contacting Brian directly through his website at www.c2bk.co.uk.

Lots more guests due into the Phoenix FM studios over the next seven days.

Josef O’Sullivan, Centre Manager from Braintree Village will be talking to Michelle Ward about Christmas shopping, and Kathleen and Margaret Parsons will be talking about their Craft Fair at Billericay School in aid of Cancer Research UK on Eat My Brunch.

Nick Sillitoe from Billericay Mayflower Rotary Club will be chatting about this year’s Billericay Christmas Market with Ian Leigh on Drive.

There will also be live music from Katie Blackwell, Last Known State and We Are All Fossils.
