Today saw the third visit to the show since April of TONY FOSGATE, someone who describes himself as a “nervous man”.
In spite of that description, Tony has taken himself to some pretty inhospitable places where he has quite literally risked life and limb.
Earlier this year he related his experiences of whitewater rafting down the Mighty Colorado (See https://www.phoenixfm.com/2019/04/08/a-holiday-of-a-lifetime/), holidaying at the North Pole (See https://www.phoenixfm.com/2019/05/13/fancy-trip-north-pole/) and today he told us what it was like to take part in the Cresta Run in St Moritz.

In the second hour of today’s show we heard about someone who came a bit of a “cropper” after religiously following the directions provided by his SATNAV.
Sadly 81 year old LUIGI RIMONTI, on his way from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Rome was astonished when, as he drove into a sleepy village, that was home to just 67 people, his SATNAV proclaimed that he had arrived at his destination.
In fact rather than ROME, he had actually driven into ROM, just to the east of the German city of Cologne.
But fate hadn’t finished with him yet, since when he exited his car to take stock of his surroundings, he forgot to apply the handbrake.
The car rolled back demolishing the sign proclaiming the name of village at which he had arrived.
Unfortunately realising that the vehicle had decided to continue on without him, he made a vain attempt to stop it, got caught in the open door and was knocked down.
Undaunted by this catalogue of tragedies, Mr Rimonti declared that once his car had been repaired, he would carry on to his intended destination.
How much attention he will take of his SATNAV is unknown, but perhaps more care in spelling and setting the device, might help!
