It’s always great to feature local creative talent – music, literature, drama – and there’s so much of it out there.
Our Arts Programme hosts Claire Gevaux and Natalie Bays were joined in the studio by Lauren, Jane and Lesley from Local Girl Productions to talk about “Sometime, Soon” – a brand new production with original songs and music by Andrew Linham, coming to Brentwood Theatre from 3-5 November.
The ladies are part of a 30-strong theatre troupe of local women. “Sometime, Soon” has an all-female cast and celebrates the extraordinary nature of ordinary women’s lives and the joy that comes with having a best friend.
“Sometime, Soon” starts in 1997, and follows the lifelong friendship of Marjorie and Joan, tracing it back to where it all began.
The day after Tony Blair comes to power, Joan is getting ready to go into town with her daughter Betty, when she receives a letter from America which changes everything.
Joan and Marjorie navigate major events of the 20th Century including the Vietnam War, the 1966 World Cup and Elizabeth II’s coronation along with the incredible women that shaped them.
Claire and Natalie spoke to Lauren, Jane and Lesley about the play and how it examines lifelong friendships, how the production came from a treasured story of a cast member’s mum, and also about the production team itself which spans ages from 8 to 80.
