Sir Raymond Douglas Davies CBE recently celebrated his 79th birthday. We heard the 2009 re-recording of the Kinks classic – Waterloo sunset – that Ray made with the Crouch End Chorus. The album is called – The Kinks Choral collection – UK no 28.
Lionel Richie, who performed memorably at the Coronation concert, is 74 years old. We heard his 1981 duet with Diana Ross of the song he wrote and produced – Endless love. It was written for the soundtrack of the film with the same title. No 1 in USA and three more countries. NO 7 in UK and Top Ten in a further 8 more countries.
Cindy Lauper is aged 70 years. We heard her 1983 track – Time after time. USA no 1 and in Canada, Chile and Zimbabwe. UK no 3, Top 10 in 12 more countries. In Rolling Stones 2021 list of %00 Greatest songs of all time, it is no 494.
