Essex Women’s Cup Quarter-Final Draw

Chris Evans reports…

ESSEX WOMEN’S CUP QUARTER-FINAL DRAW

Holders C & K Basildon to Host Harlow Town

Holders C & K Basildon will welcome fellow seeds Harlow Town in the Quarter-Finals of the Essex Women’s Cup after the draw was completed on Wednesday (21st November).

All the remaining clubs from Round Three join four seeded teams from the FA Women’s National and Eastern Region Women’s Leagues in the last eight. National Southern Premier club C & K entertain Harlow of the Eastern Region, who were Essex Women’s Trophy winners as recently as 2016.

Elsewhere Billericay Town, who play in National League Division One, await the winners of the all-Essex County Women’s League tie between Rayleigh Town and Hullbridge Sports. The quarter-finalists know they’re just two games away from a prestige final on Thursday 18th April.

Brentwood Town, who are doing well in the Eastern Region Premier, host Harlow Town Reserves. The latter were comfortable winners at home to FC Clacton at the last stage. County Women’s League side Leigh Ramblers’ reward for beating Chelmsford City in Round Three is a home match against Hutton, 2-0 winners in a derby against Hutton Reserves in the previous round.

Kim Coster, Manager of Billericay Town, assisted with the draw, pulling out the home clubs. Billericay are currently going very well in Division One South-East, sitting in second place with six wins from nine games.

Coster aims to add a couple more Essex Women’s Cup fixtures to their schedule before the end of the campaign, finishing with silverware. She said: “It would be good to get through the Quarter-Final and then on to the next round. I think it’s a fantastic competition for all the teams involved and it’s something all the teams would like to have their name on, and lift that cup.”
