This week we update on Day 1 of the second Test between England and West Indies at Trent Bridge and get listeners’ feedback of their experiences at Lord’s last week from Jimmy Anderson’s farewell. That first Test was also memorable for a stunning debut for bowler Gus Atkinson who took 12 wickets, which knocked Essex and England legend John Lever down the pecking order after he took 10 wickets on his debut for England on debut back in 1976. I caught up with John this week at Brentwood CC’s Cricket Week and we talked about those days playing for England in the 70s and 80s, along with Don Topley and Graeme Walker from Smile Group Travel.

Plus all the news and views from around the world of cricket, including an update on the latest from the Essex Premier League.

Music this week from:

Bad Manners – “Walking in the Sunshine”

Foster the People – “Pumped Up Kicks”

Show first broadcast Thursday, 18th. July 2024 on Phoenix 98FM.
