It was a joy to be joined in the studio tonight by three very confident girls from the school. They had all won a competition to be on the programme. Fay talked about technology, and asked the question as to whether it was good or bad. She told us about the many positive uses of technology. particularly in hospitals. The problems with technology tended to be around the reality that it can often go wrong. It is also easy to break items, like dropping a phone on the floor. Ellie spoke with enthusiasm about the Young Expressions drama club in Ingatestone. She told us about being in three productions and how she loved taking part in them. In one show she played a dog, and felt she did well as she had a natural whoof. We even had a demonstration. Emma told us about being involved with Race for Life and raising money for Cancer Research. She took part in the race in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, among hundreds of participants. She felt that being with many other people encouraged her to ensure she finished. She also said that it felt really good to be involved with something that is so important. She imagines she will take part for many years.
Mrs. Johnson from the school contacted the studio and said that the girls were very confident, they spoke very well and she was proud of them. She also said they made her laugh out loud. They were much appreciated by listeners who contacted the studio. Phyl listening in London said they were a great credit to the school. Marjorie thought they were wonderful. Paul in Ingrave wrote on Twitter that they were great.
We heard that the court case in Los Angeles brought against Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, where they were accused of plagiarism, had found them not guilty. As we have been showing over recent weeks, there is a clear similarity between the introduction of Stairway to Heaven and part of Spirit’s 1967 instrumental track Taurus. However the judge ruled that the chord progression was very common and had been in use for over three hundred years. Ollie, on Facebook, had told us this four weeks ago. We also heard about a cat in Scotland that had been re-united with its owners three years later, thanks to being chipped. The owners felt everyone she get their pets chipped to ensure they can be found much easier than if they are not chipped.
