We heard today about the Welsh lady who, due to administrative failures and red tape, for the past 3 years, has had to suffer having treatment for each of her knees in two different hospitals – 54 miles apart. Her left knee is treated by doctors in Llandough, near Cardiff but for treatment to her right knee she has to go to Llanelli. To make matters worse it has seemingly proved incredibly difficult to fix appointments, as they keep getting lost in the system, with extra frustration resulting from automated phone lines and the inability to reach suitable staff at the hospitals.
The issue has now become a political “hot potato” but whether it can be resolved remains to be seen!
The subject chosen today by Margaret Mills was a renowned composer and musician from Tudor times – William Byrd who lived in Stondon Massey and was great friend of the Petre family, notably John Petre son of the first Lord Petre.
