We heard today all about the supermarket which demanded proof of age when a 37-year old woman tried to purchase a £1 pot of fruit, insisting that this new policy had been introduced over fears that minors could become intoxicated were the fruit to ferment and turn into alcohol! You really couldn’t make it up if you tried could you?
Being a Tuesday I was pleased to welcome back Margaret Mills, even if she did return with a grisly tale of murder. The murder took place at Moat Farm, near Clavering, in 1898, but the murderer, Samuel Dougal was not apprehended for around 5 years, until 1903. However in those days justice was swift and the miscreant was hanged at Chelmsford prison less than 3 months later.

See you again next week,
