Now I guess that most of us have pulled a “sickie” to get a day off work now and then but get this, Mr Shri A.K. Verma, an executive engineer, left his job at the India’s Central Public Works Department for a period of paid leave in December 1990 and never went back!
Due to a combination of the notoriously slow Indian bureaucratic process and their restrictive labour laws it is incredibly difficult to sack public officials, however after 24 years, Mr Verma has finally had his employment terminated. I wonder if he will appeal.
On today’s programme we also learnt about the new “must have” gadget if you want to take “selfie” pictures of your own bottom. The device, called a “BELFIE” retails for the equivalent of about £55, but if you want one, you’ll have to wait as due to high demand, the suppliers are currently out of stock.
See you tomorrow,
Scott
