Friday Night Extra 3.10.14 with studio guest Susan Lilley from Brentwood Extended Services.

Susan Lilley joined us this evening for a fascinating insight into the work of Brentwood Extended services. She told us they are a multi-disciplinary team of eight people employed by the thirty one state schools In Brentwood. They work 1-2-1 with young people who have an issue that is having an impact on their learning. They also work with their families and this can happen at home or in school. In such a situation everything is bespoke. They also work with groups in schools on how to be safe on line. Children from Mountnessing Primary school came into the show and spoke about this at the end of last term following a visit from Susan. (This recording is still available.) They can also work with parent groups on this issue. At the moment they are running a FLASH group for Familes Learning About Self Harm, which is a ten week course. There is also a twelve week course called Incredible Years for parents and carers of those aged 6-12 years. Then there is the Strengthening Families Programme, which is six sessions, each of two hours. This particular programme aims at strengthening adult and young person relationships. Any more information about Brentwood Extended Services can be found through any of the Brentwood State schools, or directly on 01277 699433. Alternatively if you type BRENTWOOD LOCAL DELIVERY GROUP into any browser they will be listed under www.essexinfo.net

We had lots of requests tonight and Susan brought in some interesting tracks chosen by herself and the team.

Elvis Costello – Everyday I write the book
Kenny G – The girl from Ipanema – requested by Susan & Ian, back from Lanzerote and their son’s wedding.
Cliff Richard – Travelling light – to go with a story about a man from Norfolk whose wife drives around with a Cliff Richard dummy in the car, including going through customs – there was no reaction from the officers.
Ellie Goulding – Your song – one not featured on our recent show featuring tracks written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin and recorded by other artists, so we put this right.
Carole King – So far away – from Tapestry, which is selling well again after over forty years.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer – From the beginning -heavily requested again after being featured a few weeks ago.
Chicago – Colour my world
Kate Bush – Babushka – for Chris and to mark the end of Kate’s 22 concerts.
