Once again I found myself trying to fill the shoes of the magnificent MICHELLE WARD.

A huge challenge it must be said but with no “question of the day” I tried to fill the void with a few humorous stories I found lurking in PHOENIX FM’s Department of Weird and Whacky News. First off came the story of the military police being forced to intervene as 1800 pensioners went on the rampage in Colchester in their efforts to be first in the queue for ‘flu vaccinations. It conjures up picture of Zimmer Frames at dawn in my mind.

Then we heard about the woman on the look out for some cheap flights for Portugal being surprised to find that the £164 package of return flights for two, had been miraculously increased to £23.7bn when the cost of return baggage was included. Now that’s what I call a surcharge! 

Now if you are a parent you are almost certain to have been whisked to Mcdonalds by your offspring anxious to get their hands on one of the toys being pushed together with one of their Happy Meals.  Our final story today came from Copenhagen, where in the same tradition, a burger bar named HOT BUNS have spiced up their happy meals by offering sex toys – but only to adult customers and only during evening hours. It seems that the company feels the idea fits the image of the restaurant which puts as much emphasis on the hot pants worn by its all-female staff as it does on food. Well I guess if you are planning to go there you could have a whip round first – or should that be the other way round?

Right I’m off to get a burger – a standard one I hasten to add!
