Veterans In Action is a charity which helps veterans of the armed forces who have suffered the effects of war or who have found the transition to civilian life difficult, by helping them to rebuild their confidence, self-esteem and self belief on adventurous events and expeditions.
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, at 8am next Monday a team of walkers will set off from the Tyne Cot War Cemetery in Belgium, beginning a 4000 mile walk over 100 days across Belgium, France and then into England passing through over 700 villages, towns and cities en-route including Brentwood and Billericay.
Today on One 2 Three I spoke to Billy Macleod, Chief Operations officer of Veterans in Action to find out all about it. You can listen to our chat here –
The walk will be coming to our area through Brentwood and Billericay late in the day on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May. The route will take the walkers through Warley Road into Warley Hill then into Brentwood passing through King’s Rd, Ingrave Rd towards Brentwood Cathedral, then on to Shenfield Road, Hutton Road, Rayleigh Rd and along the A129 to Billericay. Why not get out on the day and support a great cause?
