It’s been a while since I caught up with Carter USM frontman JIM BOB but I managed to do just that last week, part-way through his tour to promote his second novel, Driving Jarvis Ham.

And since both 90s legends S*M*A*S*H and 90s legends (again) MIDWAY STILL were supporting for one day only I decided to haul myself up to Bedford for the pleasure. (It’s a lot further away than I thought it was).

Jim’s shows were a mixture of reading from his book and acoustic songs – his own solo stuff and from his various bands over the year including Jim’s Super Stereoworld and Carter USM too – it was fantastic hearing a number of the songs getting an airing in a less-noisy, stripped down fashion.

I won’t mention too much about the book here – listen to the interview and then buy the book! You’ve pretty much missed the tour now although you can catch Jim at Gracetonbury in Brixton on 23 June and then back at Brixton Academy in November for this year’s Carter USM reunion gig.
