Paul Greene from Brentwood’s Hermit Club and How Not to get Food Poisoning!

It was my pleasure to welcome Paul Greene to the Phoenix Fm studios today. Paul has been involved with The Hermit Club for many years in one capacity or another and is now aiming to expand “Friends of The Hermit” to help support the club now that it has lost funding from Essex County Council. You can hear our chat again here – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Paul-Greene.mp3|titles=Paul Greene]

If you would like to help out with your time, donations, or become a Friend of The Hermit visit www.thehermitclub.co.uk or call 01277 249313 or email thehermitclub@hotmail.com

Another item featured on today’s show was how not to get food poisoning!

Now are you off out for a nice meal this weekend? If you are take care, as our very own Stephen Bealey, Sunday breakfast show presenter missed his show last week after contracting food poisoning after a meal out with a friend. Often caused by poor food hygene food poisoning is at best uncomfortable and at worst lethal, so why not check before you go? The Food Standards Agency Website offers a comprehensive register of inspections, and scores are listed out. The inspections ratings range from 0 for ‘urgent improvement necessary’ to 5 for ‘very good’. To use the free service simply visit www.ratings.food.gov.uk and enter your postcode and town – you may be surprised by some of the results! It has to be said that the majority of ratings in our area are good to very good but there are a small number of food outlets locally with low ratings. You have been warned! – That website again – www.ratings.food.gov.uk
