Now are you off out for a nice meal this weekend? If you are take care, as our very own Stephen Bealey, Sunday breakfast show presenter missed his show last week after contracting food poisoning after a meal out with a friend. Often caused by poor food hygene food poisoning is at best uncomfortable and at worst lethal, so why not check before you go? The Food Standards Agency Website offers a comprehensive register of inspections, and scores are listed out. The inspections ratings range from 0 for ‘urgent improvement necessary’ to 5 for ‘very good’. To use the free service simply visit www.ratings.food.gov.uk and enter your postcode and town – you may be surprised by some of the results! It has to be said that the majority of ratings in our area are good to very good but there are a small number of food outlets locally with low ratings.
