Manchester United
Never afraid of spending big, United could amongst the most active in the transfer window. The Red Devils currently occupy the fifth position in the Premier League table, and they will want to do everything they can to re-establish themselves as top four material.
One key issue to address first is the status of Paul Pogba. The midfielder has had a decent run at United but now he is wanted by Real Madrid. Should the Spanish side make a bid for Pogba it has been speculated that they would be willing to offer big names such as Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez in a swap deal.
Another name that has been linked with United is Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen. The skilful Dane has been unsettled at Tottenham and would undoubtedly benefit from a move elsewhere. Of course, United will face competition for his signature.
And Eriksen is not the only Nordic addition United will be hoping to make. There has been talk of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being interested in his fellow countryman Erlin Braut Haaland. The young striker has been touted by some as the next Zlatan Ibrahimović for his prowess in front of goal.
Chelsea
Chelsea have made something of an unexpectedly good start to life under Frank Lampard. Currently occupying a healthy fourth spot in the League, the Blues have done extremely well considering that they have been banned from making any purchases over the past two transfer windows. Lampard has been eyeing up some powerful potential additions to his squad. Perhaps the most eye-catching is Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha who has long been a target for teams in the top six – could this be the transfer window that Chelsea successfully entice him away from fellow Londoners.
Chelsea also have a buy-back clause inserted into the contract of Nathan Ake, the Dutch Bournemouth defender who played for the Blues from 2012 to 2017. His strong run of form could also make him a target to sure up the defensive line.
Liverpool
There’s one name on the minds of Liverpool supporters over the transfer window: Kylian Mbappe. If you think Liverpool’s attacking line-up is formidable now, imagine it with the terrifying presence of Mbappe, who last year averaged more than a goal per game for the French champions PSG. If Liverpool pull off this signing, they could well be unstoppable going forward into 2020.
