Costs Associated With Getting a Realtor’s License in FL

According to the latest statistics, the number of people moving to Florida from other states is expected to rise. Florida’s sudden rise in popularity as a preferred residential state for most Americans has led to a boom in the real estate market. Picture this: reports from leading editorials suggested that median home values in FL have gone up by over 20% since 2021.

This is great news for any Florida resident planning to invest in real estate. It is equally good news for anyone who wants to join the business as a salesperson. But how much does it cost to get a realtor’s license in FL?

School Fees

Here is where you will spend a lot of cash. Your first order of business is looking for the best school offering pre-licensing programs. The course curriculum is curated by FREC, and it contains topics that will help you understand real estate information.

Tuition fees vary between schools depending on whether the classes are online or in-person. Online courses are relatively cheaper than attending physical in-person classes. Expect to spend between $100-500 for the pre-licensing program. However, if you are looking for cheap but quality online courses, check out RealEstateU.

Exam Registration

Most students don’t look forward to this stage. It can be nerve-wracking, but adequate practice and revision can help you ace the exams on your first attempt. After completing your pre-licensing program, register for a Pearson VUE account.

Therein, you can register for and schedule the state exam. Registering for the test will set you back $36.75. The exam is timed at three hours with the pass mark set at 75%.

If you are successful, you deserve a pat on the back. However, if you didn’t pass the exam, worry not. You can retake it by paying the registration fee and picking another date when you feel that you will be ready for the exam.

Application Costs

Additional costs associated with pursuing a career as a realtor in FL include fees for applying for a license. The application can be completed online, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process. You will be required to pay around $83.75 for this process.

Also, have some cash for fingerprinting, which usually costs around $50-80. However, check out the state’s department website for the latest updates on application fees and related costs. Fingerprinting is crucial for your background review and to see if you meet the state’s honesty and trustworthiness standards.

Post-Licensing Program

Licensed realtors must allocate a total of 14 hours to complete post-licensing courses within a two-year timeframe. This program’s primary purpose is to ensure that you stay up-to-date with new real estate regulations and laws.

Competing in the 14-hour program can cost you $20-50. However, it is worth it if you still want to retain your status as a licensed realtor in FL.

Final Thoughts

A budget of around $1,000 is enough to get you a relator’s license in FL. Do your research and find quality schools that offer quality courses at decent fees.
