A very busy show this week, and with the football season at its ‘business end’ many promotion, play-off and relegation issues are slowly but surely being resolved. In our three featured matches this week:

Leyton Orient hosted Fleetwood Town in their last Sky Bet League One home match of the season and were beaten 1-0, but it wasn’t good enough to save the visitors from relegation.

But the Brisbane Road outfit have had a decent season – their first in the third tier since 2014/15 – and despite indifferent form in their recent games, may still finish in the top half of the table.

Billericay Town kept their hopes of reaching the Isthmian Premier League play-offs alive, coming back from behind to win 2-1 at Carshalton Athletic thanks to second half goals from Moses Emmanuel and Alfie Cerulli.

Meanwhile in the Isthmian North, Brentwood Town ended their home league campaign with a 2-0 defeat against Brightlingsea Regent, goals either side of half time from Charlie Collis and Teddy Collis giving the visitors all three points, but Keith Rowland’s Blues had already guaranteed themselves a play-off spot.

In Cricket’s County Championship Division One, early pacesetters Essex continued their impressive start to the 2024 season as they edged towards victory against Lancashire at Chelmsford whilst in Rugby Union’s Women’s Six Nations, another excellent result for England saw them make their way into the record books,

The Red Roses beat Ireland 88-10, scoring 14 tries in the process.
