Some ideas for days out!

This is often the time of year when people start thinking about holidays so with this in mind we suggested a couple of attractions that you might want to consider.

So if you are into the concept of aliens or at least curious how about taking a trip to HAY ON WYE, in Powis Wales and take a gander the mysterious stainless steel monolith shaped like a giant Toblerone, that has appeared on a hilltop, that is of course, if its still there!

There are no roads nearby and no obvious footprints.

Over recent years there has been a crop of monoliths appearing, and subsequently disappearing out of the blue, with similar items appearing on the Isle of Wight and at the Merry Maidens stone circle in Cornwall.

And further afield steel monoliths have appeared on Batca Doamnei Hill, Romania in the city of Piatra Neamt, in Turkey, in the state of Utah in the USA as well as on a Spanish Beach.

Some people have suggested that these might be connected with a message from alien life, or maybe it’s just the work of some bizarre artist, or artists.

Who knows?

But if Wales is too far for you to go, there’s always THE NEWMARKET PUDDLE which is on the A14 between Felixstowe and Newmarket.

Scoring a 3.5 out of 5 on trip advisor, one review read,  “Visited this famous puddle unintentionally for almost two hours whilst travelling back from work, wow what a sight!”

Another said, ”Absolutely breathtaking, brought the whole family along and it did not disappoint.

“The only disappointment was that there weren’t any refreshments on site. Would go again.”

Whilst someone else commented, “Fantastic experience. Did I miss the little gift shop?”

“A souvenir pencil with a small useless rubber on the end, would have made the two hour delay so worth while!”

The Environment Agency confirms that following exceptional recent rainfall in the area, flooding has resulted in the closure of one lane of the A14 between junctions 37 and 38 causing massive delays for motorists and resulted in over 12 million litres of water – enough for 5 Olympic-sized swimming pools having to be pumped out.

In the second hour of today’s show I was joined as per usual on a Tuesday by Margaret Mills who this week looked at the life and times of a judge who had been based in Chelmsford.

His name was Judge Tindal, and so well thought of that the citizens of Chelmsford got together to erect a statue in his memory which stands today in the square named after him, Tindal Square.

Judge Tindal who rose to become solicitor general, lived between 1776 and 1846
