On todays’s programme I was joined once more by Margaret Mills who took us back to Tudor times, and in particular the regular visits to our county by Queen Elizabeth I.
But before that we heard about a case for the police, almost certain to get an easy conviction.
Surely this must be a “first”.
A man has been arrested by North Yorkshire police on suspicion of drink driving – after calling police himself!
The man in his 50’s phoned police to say he was “drink driving and doesn’t know what he is doing”.
The incident followed a heavy weekend in the Knaresborough area of North Yorkshire.
His vehicle was found within 15 minutes of his call and a roadside breathalyser test confirmed that he was way over he limit so he was promptly arrested and remains in custody.
In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said “it’s not every day that a suspected drink driver dobs themselves into the police”.
And now returning to Tudor Essex – and especially the time that Queen Elizabeth I regularly visited our county.
Listen here to what Margaret had to say on this subject today: –
I look forward to having your company again next week,
Scott
