An INCREDIBLY busy show this week, as Rugby Union played a big part with the opening weekend of the 2024 Six Nations, and after defending champions Ireland had achieved an extraordinary win over France in Marseille on Friday night, England began their campaign with a win against Italy – although it proved to be a narrow victory, with Steve Borthwick’s side triumphing by 27 points to 24 – before Scotland secured their first win in Cardiff against Wales since 2002, easing the hosts out by 27 points to 26 after being well in control at the interval.

Our three featured football matches saw Leyton Orient continue their recent impressive form in EFL League One, with a 3-2 win at home to struggling Carlisle United leaving them in 9th position.

But Billericay Town suffered a blow to their promotion hopes, with a 2-1 loss at home to Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian Premier League.

Two sides who have been impressive in their respective inaugural campaigns in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One South – Clapton Community and Hutton – fought out a 1-1 draw at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, and we had half-time and full-time reports from all three of those games.

As well as also discussing the rest of the afternoon’s Football, local Rugby, Cricket with England in test action in India, and Horse Racing, I managed to squeeze in a few tunes too:

Carly Simon – Why

Cat Burns – Know That You’re Not Alone

Eagles – The Long Run

Rick Astley – Forever and More

Steve Miller Band – Abracadabra

Odyssey – Use It Up And Wear It Out

Warren Zevon – Werewolves Of London

Clash – London Calling

Blur – London Loves
