One 2 Three Friday 1.12.23 Tim talking Advent & Katherine from Kids Inspire.

Tim talking Advent & Katherine from Kids Inspire.
One 2 Three
Patrick Sherring

Tim Goodbody talked about the continuing relevance of Advent. He said that Advent was not just about waiting, but also about expectation. This needed preparation.  Whilst our culture still recalls Advent as a countdown to Christmas through Advent calendars, Tim reminded us that for Christians the season is about the two Advents. Preparation for Christmas and remembering the birth of Jesus. Preparation for Jesus coming again as judge of the whole world. Tim felt the best way to prepare for Advent was to imagine yourself standing before Jesus and thinking what you would say. This could lead to some adjustment with attitudes and ways of living. Tim is Diocesan Director of Ordinands for the Diocese of Chelmsford.

We were also joined by Katherine Loveday talking about the the Christmas appeal for Kids Inspire. For the past 14 years they have successfully run a Christmas Appeal to source, wrap and deliver [resents to nominated children and their families in Essex. Last year they distributed toys to over 1600 children. This year they have had nominations from schools and social workers for over 2,000 toys to be given to children. One of the easiest ways to donate it though the Amazon wish list.
