Meet The Breeds at the Essex Dog Training Centre

Roy Dyer writes:

Hello everyone

I am sure that like me you have have heard comments such as :

  • What on earth did they get that type of dog for?
  • They have no idea what they have on the end of the lead?
  • Oh dear, it’s a very strong working breed, and not a good family pet
  • They don’t know what it will cost
  • Look at that poor dog, that family has no idea of its needs

… and the list goes on and on.

What do you know about dogs? Do you know about a particular breed?

Do you know the difference between instinct and intelligence in dogs? What they require for a good life?

Maybe you are not an expert, but may have good sound knowledge of “how a dog works”.

If someone asked you what type of dog they should get, could you advise and help them in a straight forward and non-biased way? Not as a total expert, unless of course you are one – but as someone who has or does live with a particular breed and understands how that breed should work/act/behave.

Maybe you are a dog trainer, a good recognised breeder or quite simply an excellent dog owner with understanding of your breed.

A good number of families acquired a dog over the Covid period yet had very little knowledge of what they were taking on in respect of dog ownership. We are seeing quite a number of unsocialised dogs because of the Covid times.

If only the right people could have advised them before they had selected their pup or adult dog things may have been different?

Even before Covid many families and dogs were mis-matched because of lack of good information and many still are.

So here is another question.

Are you free between 9.30am and about 3.00pm on 3rd June to attend a free of charge public entry outdoor event (indoor available if needed) in Brentwood under the title of “MEET THE BREEDS” with all unpaid voluntary helpers and organisers?

We are looking for at least fifty different breeds of dogs of all sizes and some known cross breeds, of course along with their owners to give the public advice on the breed and what to normally to expect from them.

Television legend, Crufts longest TV commentator and dog expert PETER PURVES will be in attendance commentating on the breeds which will be filmed and of course photographs will be taken and some interviews requested.

  • THE NATIONAL SERVICE DOG BRAVERY AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS (est 1990)

If you feel you would like to assist by exhibiting your dog for the public to meet and you give basic sound non biased advice about its breed, IT MUST YES MUST be of sound temperament, under control and very good with humans alike or you may just want to be a helper or steward.

If you haven’t already done so, please send an email to info@essexdogtrainingcentre.co.uk and we will book you into the event with confirmation and further details sent to you in the near future.
