We are all very sorry to hear of the passing of popular local campaigner and author Karen Chilvers.
Karen Chilvers represented Brentwood West for the Liberal Democrats between 2007 and 2011 and 2012 and 2021.
Lib Dem borough colleague Councillor David Kendall paid tribute by saying: “Karen was a driving force of energy in the Brentwood Liberal Democrats over many years and encouraged a number of people to stand for the Council and helped to get them elected. She was a champion for many vulnerable people in our community particularly on disability and equality issues.”
Politics aside, she was a good friend to Phoenix FM, helping us in our early days in dealings with the council, community groups and commercial organisations.
In her later years she became an author, writing a number of books in the Tzu Kingdom series.
Our thoughts are with Karen’s family.
