Blues at it’s Finest from Amazing Youngsters – The Jack Austin Despy Blues Band

It’s not often that I find myself in the right place at the right time, but that’s exactly what happened last Sunday.
I was out in Billericay celebrating my birthday with a large group of friends when we decided to call in at The Chequers for some live music at their regular “Madhouse” Jam Session.

The Jack Austin Despy Blues Band performed at this session, a remarkable band not only for the quality of the music they played, but for the fact that their average age is just 14! Aged just 13, 14, and 15 these talented young people brought the house down. I personally was mesmerised by the guitar playing ability of the band’s leader and lead guitarist Jack Austin Despy. He made it look effortless and enthralled the audience with his talent.

The line up also included Poppy Ellis on bass and Logan Amos on Drums.

The Chequers wisely immediately signed the band up for more live sessions on the following dates –

21st August, 4th September, 9th October, 20th November, 11th December.

Go see them for free while you can. I predict that it won’t be too long before you’ll have to pay a high price for the privilege of seeing them live.

I played some recorded tracks from the band on the show today. You can listen to the whole show here –
