Brentwood Chamber of Commerce’s Sizzling Summer Barbeque

Mike Hawkins from the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce writes:

On Thursday 14th July, one of Brentwood Chamber’s flagship events of the year – the summer barbeque – took place in brilliant sunshine and at the magnificent venue of Warley Park Golf Club, recently completely refurbished and offering a fine location for the event. It is one of 9 golf courses run by GetGolfing, which has been set up as a charity; and they have evidently invested heavily in the new look Warley Park club house.

Well over 40 businesspeople came along on the night, enjoying fine barbeque food, the chance to stop off at exhibitors’ stands and general networking in a relaxed atmosphere. The Charity Partner for the evening was the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. Many people will remember Helen, a Brentwood-based sports journalist and TV presenter, a favourite with viewers, who died tragically young just over 20 years ago.

The charity, set up in her name, has been very successful in helping to provide sufferers with the support she believed in when she described her vision – ‘Good quality of life while coping with cancer is the most important gift a sick person can receive. It should be available to everyone’.

Brentwood Chamber has a full programme of events designed to bring members together to promote and further their business. A popular summer activity is netwalking events, a casual stroll in pleasant country surrounds, with perhaps a refreshing drink at a country pub at the end of it – and a chance to speak with like-minded businesspeople to further your business interests.

Another flagship event takes place on 7th October – the well-established Chamber Business Awards, to be held, this year, at the Brentwood Centre. Though applications have now closed, many people will be interested to follow the fate of those businesses already nominated and night, itself, will (as in the past) be a gala event helping to put Brentwood businesses firmly on the map.

There is so much going on in Brentwood Chamber of Commerce that there has never been a better time for local businesses to be a part of this surge of activity, showing such confidence in Brentwood’s future.
