Saint Francis Hospice fundraiser Helen Curran explains why:
I’m truly proud to work as part of the Lottery team at Saint Francis Hospice. Thanks to our loyal supporters, the Saint Francis Hospice Lottery has been running for over 10 years and in that time has raised millions of pounds to help local people and their loved ones receive the care they need. And we’ve also been able to hand out hundreds of prizes too to supporters in our community.
Every Friday when we run our weekly draw there’s always a sense of excitement in the office because we know that we will get the chance to tell our lucky winners that they have won a prize. Amazement, joy, disbelief and tears are some of the emotions that I get to witness every week. I’ve heard some amazing stories from our winners and I love to find out what they plan to do with their prize money. One of my favourite stories is of Amanda and John who planned to put their winnings towards their wedding – 47 years after the couple first met. Our fantastic lottery players help support our patients and their loved ones every day and it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to give something back.
I know how tough life has been and continues to be for people and I’d like to say a big thank you from all the team for the continued support we receive. After a decade, we felt that this would be a good time to refresh our weekly lottery to give our amazing supporters a better chance to win a guaranteed cash prize every week.
From 1st July 2022 Saint Francis Hospice will be increasing the number of guaranteed prizes in its weekly draw. Still for just £1 a week, we will be offering over 50 guaranteed prizes every Friday. We are keeping our top prize of £1,000 but offering more chances to win in our 3rd and 4th prizes. One lucky winner could also still win up to £10,000 in our 2nd prize rollover. Plus, for extra fun, we are introducing an annual superdraw. Active players will automatically be entered into this draw where for one week a year, there will be a bigger 1st prize on offer.
