One 2 Three Friday 17.6.22 with Dan Pierce & Julie Hardy.

P H O E N I X   P L A Y E R
with Dan Pierce & Julie Hardy.
One 2 Three
Patrick Sherring

Dan Pierce chatted about the return of the Bradwell Pilgrimage. On July 2nd Christians will undertake a pilgrimage to the chapel of St. Peter’s on the wall, Bradwell. This chapel was founded by St. Cedd in the 654. After falling into not being used as a place of worship after the Reformation and had been used as a farmer’s barn, it was restored in 1920. Dan spoke about the remoteness and history of the chapel making it a “thin place”, where it was easier to leave behind all the anxieties of modern life. The pilgrimage this year is the first since 2019 and will include talks, activities and worship. There is also a shuttle bus available for those for whom the walk from St. Thomas’ church in Bradwell village to the chapel would be too challenging.

https://www.bradwellchapel.org/chapel/bradwell-pilgrimage

Dan also emphasised that the chapel can be visited at other times.

Julie Hardy joined us on the phone to talk about three up-coming events. Sunday 3rd of July between 3-6pm there will be a full peal of bells. This is followed at 6.30 by Hymns and then Pimms on the lawn at St. Thomas Navestock RM4 1HA. Saturday 9th of July in the Rectory Garden, Church Road 2.30 for a 3pm start, is Brass on the Grass, with Fairlop Brass. Adults £10, children £5. Saturday 16th of July at St. Thomas Navestock, 7pm for 7.30 start https://www.men2sing.org.uk will be performing ‘a repertoire of foot-tappers form Queen, Elton John, ELO, Michael Buble as well as anthems from hit musicals and choral classics. Tickets £12. More information about these events on the churches websites and Facebook pages and the PhoenixFM events guide.
