It turned out to be a memorable FA Cup third round weekend, with some big upsets taking place during Saturday’s show.

One of the most notable scalps involved Kidderminster Harriers of the National League North, the lowest ranked club left in the competition who won 2-1 at home to Championship side Reading – four divisions and 79 positions above their hosts at the start of play.

The Worcestershire club’s reward is a fourth round tie at home to West Ham United, who beat fellow Premier League outfit Leeds United 2-0 in their home tie on Sunday thanks to goals from Manuel Lanzini and Jarrod Bowen.

But Leyton Orient’s run came to an end on the same afternoon, after the EFL League Two outfit lost 2-0 away to Championship side Stoke City.

Our featured match of the day was in the National League South, where Billericay Town faced what was generally thought to be a mammoth task against table-toppers Maidstone United at New Lodge.

Billericay – bottom of the league with only two NLS victories all season – faced what a seeming only mammoth task against a side who had won eight league games on the bounce going into this fixture.

Jody Brown’s men secured a point in a draw though, taking the lead in the 71st minute when ex-Billericay defender Joe Ellul put the ball into his own net.

But the Kent side ensured honours were shared 11 minutes later, when substitute Reece Grant equalised to make the final score 1-1.
