This week on Saturday Brunch I was joined by local resident Daniel Screen, to discuss the mental health first aid training he recently undertook, and why the certificate is so useful. As a Health and Safety manager, Daniel spoke about how the course was particularly helpful at work, but that it’s impact can go a lot further as well. Whether you are with colleagues, friends, family or even strangers, it important it is for as many people as possible to be trained in recognising and providing suitable support to those struggling mentally. There are so many different types of mental health illnesses, as well as a spectrum of severity and responses, and the two-day course allows participants to understand some of the complexity of mental health.
