If robbing a bank, best sort out your wheels

Today we enjoyed news of a bank robbery with a difference.

First off the bank was located only 3 blocks away from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office headquarters and secondly the robber was a woman on a motorised wheelchair.

So probably not the best transport on which to make a successful getaway, which she didn’t.

Apparently the 39-year old woman, named as Kenyeitta Gordon, originally turned up at the bank to discuss adding overdraft protection to her account, but once completed she then asked to withdraw money from the account. When told this was not possible, she started screaming profanities at the teller and threatening to kill everyone in the bank and announced that she was robbing the place. At this point the teller handed over $100 following which she then took off at about 5MPH, only to be stopped and taken into custody a short time later.

In addition to the stolen cash police also uncovered a crack pipe under the red blanket., she was using to cover her legs.

It was not too difficult to trace the woman given that she’d handed over her ID card in order to access her account in the first place.

She has now been charged with strong arm robbery and use and possession with intent to use, of drug paraphernalia.

Apparently this was not an isolated incident as it seems that she has been the subject of 12 previous arrests.

Staying in the USA, we heard about the woman from Seattle who got a big surprise after she bought a craft kit to crochet animal hats, from a charity shop only to find a kilo of cocaine stashed inside.

When she opened the kit her suspicions were aroused by a suspicious looking heavy package encased in yellow rubber which was giving off a strange smell

Police later confirmed that this is not the first incident of this kind as a family who purchased a plush glow toy and someone else’s daughter who bought a sandwich bag discovered thousands of fentanyl tablets.

Clearly the charity shops in the US are going to pot.

I’ll see you again tomorrow,
Scott
