Saturday’s Isthmian League campaign was decimated by the wet weather which saw countless fixtures postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
Only two matches involving local clubs survived the conditions.
One was the Isthmian North encounter at Park Lane, where Canvey Island hosted fellow Essex side Aveley.
The Gulls were in front for most of the match following George Woodward’s 11th minute goal.
But Dan Humphreys put the ball into his own net four minutes from the final whistle to ensure a point for the Millers, who stay in the runners-up spot in the table whilst Canvey are currently 10th.
Waltham Abbey’s trip to Ware was one of only two fixtures to survive pitch inspections in the Isthmian South Central.
And that set Abbey up for an early Christmas gift of three points, as they stretched their run of unbeaten league games to eight with a 3-2 win that took them up to fourth place in the table.
Prince Domafriyie put them in front in only the second minute before Leonne McKenzie doubled the lead with nearly half an hour gone.
McKenzie made it 3-0 with his second eleven minutes into the second half.
Second-placed Ware made a spirited late comeback with Leigh Rose and David Kendall reducing the deficit for them in the final eight minutes of the game, but Abbey held on to claim victory.
