National League Round-up: Saturday 19th October

Concord Rangers suffered a very disappointing defeat in the National League South as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Hungerford Town, a win which took the visitors off the foot of the table.

Second half goals from Taofiq Olomowewe and Liam Ferdinand left the Beach Boys in 13th spot.

Despite their inconsistent early season form Chelmsford City are currently only three points away from the NLS play-off spots, after a very late rally in their away match at Tonbridge Angels.

The Kent side had led for most of the match thanks to ex-Concord midfield man Khale Da Costa’s 14th minute strike, and this was still the case as the match entered the six minutes of time added on at the end.

But the Clarets equalised two minutes into the extended period when winger Chris Whelpdale struck home, before Shaun Jeffers sealed a 2-1 win and all three points in the 94th minute of play.

The win eased Rod Stringer’s side into the top half of the table in 11th place.
