Senior League Cup

Having reached the Semi Finals of the Essex Premier Cup last weekend, Catholic United are now in the last four of the Senior League Cup after a 3-0 away win at Great Baddow. Simon Thomas scored twice with Aaron Baldwin also chipping in.

 

Premier Division

Bailey Moss scored the Rayleigh Town goal against leaders Buckhurst Hill, but the leaders went on to win the game 5-1 that not only keeps them top but also opens a slight points advantage over Harold Wood Athletic who were held to a 3-3 draw by Hutton. Michael Burton, Reiss Kingsley and Robert Whitnell scoring for Harold Wood, while Brad Freeman, Keelan O’Donovan and George Nash replied for the visitors. Kelvedon Hatch are up to third after a 2-1 win over Springfield who drop to twelfth: Antony Aylett scored both the Kelvedon goals, while Ryan Batchford scored the Springfield one, both having come of the subs bench in order to do so. Sungate move up to eleventh after Ciaran Kelly notched twice in their 2-1 away success at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. The hosts, who scored via Josh Osunde drop down a place to fourth after this result. Ryan Stillwell (2) and Ed Gould were the Old Southendian marksmen in a 3-1 win over Canning Town, who replied via Abdul Shobawale.

Alfie Phillips scored three himself, Brodie Horne supplied two, with Levi Harbour also getting on the score sheet. Ramsden Scotia slip down to fourth after a 2-1 reverse at Galleywood. The hosts scored through Matthew Buckingham and Luke Osborne, while Ryan Scott was the source of the Ramsden goal. Old Chelmsfordians leapfrog Frenford Res. into ninth place after a solitary Paul Tiffen goal won the game 1-0 for the OCs. Chingford Athletic meanwhile drop down to third after they could only garner a point from their home game with Shoebury Town. Westhamians now lead the table on goal difference after they lost to a solitary Jack Shaw goal that won the game 1-0 for Hutton Res. Wakering Sports were able to win their game at Roydon 3-0 that now sees them level on points, although they have also played three games more than the leaders. However Harry Groves (2) and Paul Wines scored the goals that now see their team in the other promotion spot, four points better off than third-placed Academy Soccer who also won on Saturday, brushing Old Chelmsfordians Res. aside with a 9-1 victory. Luis Ruiz and Alfie Sayers both scored hat-tricks, Jake Jones added a further two with Luke Jones and Jack Shaw also getting a goal apiece. Luke Anderson supplied the consolation goal that prevented a total whitewash. Leigh Town were in a commanding position against White Ensign Res. as goals from Rhys Mosedale, Harry Payne and George Darby placed them in a 3-0 lead. However the hosts were able to reduce arrears as Zach Somerset-Butler scored twice from penalties. Leigh Town held on to take all the points with the 3-2 win seeing them up to fourth.
