An invite from am-dram group

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Have you ever thought of getting into acting? Many people across Essex enjoy being part of their local “am dram” or operatic society.

Last week we welcomed Adam Popplewell, Dawn Popplewell, Alli Smith and Jo Hunt from Shenfield Operatic Society to the studio.

They came down to talk about the interesting benefits of joining a local drama or signing group and their own personal experiences. And they also pointed out that they don’t do operas!boards over Essex!

The interview with Shenfield Operatic can be heard again on the Phoenix FM website at www.phoenixfm.com.

** Here at Phoenix FM we say goodbye to our sport presenter Chris Hood, who joined us five years ago.

Chris joined as a budding news and sport presenter and at first teamed up with Robby West, who is now a reporter on the BBC’s regional TV news programme Look East.

He then graduated to his own show, Midweek Matchzone, which he later co-presented with five-times world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Until recently he anchored our main Saturday sport show and for the last three years has also hosted The Orient Hour, which has proved extremely popular with fans of current National League leaders Leyton Orient.

Chris has taken up a new position in Norfolk and we wish him all the best.
