Latitude 2018: Idles

I’ve been following Idles’ fortunes intensely since I first heard (and saw the video for) 2017’s “Mother” single. Live shows don’t disappoint and I’ve seen some amazing sets from them at Latitude, Standon Calling and Chinnery’s in Southend in the last 12 months.

So it was an absolute delight to spend some time with lead singer Joe Talbot before they took to the BBC Music stage on Sunday.

Joe talks about the band’s ethos and his thoughts on their second album, Joy As An Act Of Resistance, which is out on 31 August.

You can hear the interview again here:

After our interview the band absolutely blew the roof off the big top – I can’t stress this enough but go and see them if you can. And buy the new album. And the first one, Brutalism, if you don’t have it.

You can find out more about the band on their official website. The band will be touring the UK, Europe and the USA in the autumn.
