Mark Searby Movie Review 12th Jan 2018

Friday’s at 3:30pm is movie time and our regular film guru Mark Searby was in to review Darkest Hour, a biopic on Sir Winston Churchill starring (an almost unrecognisable) Gary Oldman.  Also out this week is Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri – a real emotional roller-coaster and billed as a “black comedy” despite the serious subject matter of the unsolved murder of a young girl.  This stars Fraces McDormand and Woody Harrelson.

For home-based viewing, there’s Detroit from Kathryn Bigelow about The Algiers Motel incident during the race riots of 1967.  John Boyega (Finn, from the recent Star Wars films) stars in this.  Finally, Good Time starring Robert Pattinson (off of vampires) as Constantine “Connie” Nikas who, along with his mentally challenged younger brother, decide to rob a bank in New York.

Factoid : Our movie man Mark is known for his dislike of popcorn and other such noisy sweets whilst at the cinema – as evidenced by the following clip and picture!

Mark Searby and the empty popcorn box!
