Now here’s a fabulous excuse for being late to work!

Stairs goneYeah, residents of an apartment block in the US state of Georgia woke up last week to find themselves trapped in the building as  the landlord had removed the stairs!

Whilst it seems that some residents had received a letter  saying that the stairs needed emergency repairs, and that tenants would be reimbursed for hotel costs for the time they’d be required to move out, others were only advised as the stairs were actually being removed!

But in any case it appears that the stairs were abruptly removed on Monday morning, without any prior warning.

Emergency services had to be summoned to free residents of the Maple Walk Apartments in Decatur who lived above the ground floor.

Try explaining that one to your boss!

It was good to welcome back Margaret Mills this afternoon.

Rushbury, Henry; John Ray of Black Notley, Father of Natural History (1627-1703); Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service: Colchester Collection; https://www.artuk.org/artworks/john-ray-of-black-notley-father-of-natural-history-16271703-2331

Her subject today was John Ray, who was born in a smithy in Black Notley but somehow rose to become one of the foremost naturalists of his time.

Listen again to what Margaret told me today: –

See you again soon,
Scott
